Second successful staged hybrid coronary arteries revascularisation in SKUMS
The assistant professor of SKUMS and heart surgeon of Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari province announced the successful clinical outcome of the second case in staged hybrid coronary arteries revascularisation local program.
According to the national health news agency (Webda), doctor Aazami stated that after successful application of hybrid coronary arteries revascularisation in Fars province recently, two high risk patients aged more than 60 years old successfully underwent staged hybrid approach resorting on combination of coronary artery bypass surgery and percutaneous coronary stenting by implementing the accurate expertise of Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari province specialist physicians in the Kashani and Hajaar university hospitals.
Doctor Aazami highlighted the expected benefits of combining coronary artery bypass surgery and percutaneous coronary stenting in view of reducing the probability of overall morbidity and mortality by such an ongoing approach. He pointed out that the proven longevity of new drug eluting stenting in comparison of surgically venous grafting does favorably affect the long term outcome of patients candidate to coronary artery revascularisation.
The assistant professor of SKUMS expressed the potential of adjuvant stenting as an alternative valuable solution in the case of receptive coronary arteries deemed technically challenging to lead to successful surgical bypassing while offering notable advantageous physiological regimens to coronary blood flow.
Coronary hybrid revascularisation requires huge investment in hybrid operation room homing coronary angiography setting and classical heart theater facilities. The current successful local program of staged hybrid coronary revascularisation avoids such an investment and will take a greater role in the next future.
Paralleling the SKUMS chancellor statements, doctor Khaledi-far in charge of coronary stenting in coronary hybrid revascularisation program, this successfully staged hybrid program reflects the high degree of proficiency and dedication of SKUMS physicians to prompting health care quality that will undoubtedly impact the domestic and international health tourism sector.
