The eye specialist surgeon and cornea transplant fellowship, Dr. Saeed Raeisi, said: The first multi-layer embryonic transplant to the eye's cornea in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province was successfully performed at Seyyed-o-Shohada Hospital in Farsan.

Explaining this news, Dr. Raeisi stated that a multi-layer embryonic transplant to the eye's cornea was successfully performed for a 65-year-old patient who suffered from a recurrent corneal ulcer due to multiple eye surgeries.

He added: During the last week, eight embryo-to-eye transplant surgeries have been performed in this hospital for patients aged 37 to 65.

In addition, Dr. Raeisi said that Amniotic Membrane Transplant (AMT) is used to reconstruct the eye's surface and treat various diseases of the eye's surface, such as recurrent corneal ulcers, chemical burns, and pterygium.

He says the necessary facilities and equipment to perform this surgery are available at Seyyed-o-Shohada Hospital, Farsan.

He also pointed out that this surgery is currently done with government tariffs for the applicants.
